The Ultimate Guide to Using Google Slides

Are you switching to Google Slides? Here’s a beginner’s guide on adding high-end slide templates and using Google slides for business or personal use.

For a long time, people used Microsoft PowerPoint to create business presentations. However, for the past few years, Google Slides has replaced Microsoft PowerPoint as the standard presentation-creating tool. This is because, unlike PowerPoint, Google slides allow multiple people to work on the same presentation from different locations. Numerous users can collaborate on any project and instantly see any changes that a user makes in a Google Slides presentation.

If you’re considering switching to Google Slides, here’s your ultimate guide.

Creating a Presentation

For beginners who don’t know how to use Google slides, start a new presentation by going to your Google Drive. In the top right corner, you will see an ‘Add’ button. Click on the button and select Google slides. Your new presentation will open.

However, if you want to edit a PowerPoint file on Google slides, click the ‘Add’ button, select ‘File Upload’, and upload an existing PowerPoint file. Click on the file to open it in Google slides once it’s uploaded.

Naming a Presentation

An uploaded PowerPoint presentation will appear by its existing name in your Google slides. However, for the new presentation that you have just created, the title will be ‘Untitled Presentation,’ mentioned at the top left corner of the presentation. Click on the title to replace the ‘Untitled Presentation’ with the name of your choice.

Add Text to Your Presentation

Each slide will have a text box where you can add text. Click the slide to start adding text to your presentation. Moreover, you can adjust the size and placement of your text boxes. If you want to add more text, insert another text box using the ‘Insert’ and ‘Add Text Box’ options in the toolbar.

Insert Any Media Items in Your Presentation

Do you want to impress your presentation’s audience? Try adding media to your Google slides presentation. Click the same ‘Insert’ option and select ‘Image’, ‘Video’, ‘Shape’, ‘Table’, ‘Diagram’, or ‘Chart.’ In addition, you can change these media elements’ positions and size for a better look.
